Remembering 9/11
It was a day the world changed.
At 8:46 AM Eastern Time, American Airlines flight 11 crashed into the North Tower, known as World Trade Center One. At 9:03 AM the South Tower (WTC 2) was struck by United Airlines Flight 175.
WTC 1 burned for an hour and forty two minutes before collapsing. WTC 2 collapsed just before 10 AM after burning for just 56 minutes.
Nearly three thousand people lost their lives.
The September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated Islamism terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001. On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember those lives, those civilians who when they walked in thought that is was just another workday and those heroic first responders who gave their lives while trying to save others.

**Brighton Area Fire Authority hosts an annual community remembrance service at the site every September 11th at 7:00 PM to honor first responders, victims, and military service members.

Nearly 3000 people lost their lives on September 11, 2001 when a terrorist group brazenly attacked the United States. They manage to hijack four commercial airliners, crash into the three of four intended targets (the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and the Pentagon in Washington, DC); the fourth believed to be targeting the White House, were thwarted when the brave passengers and crew overpowered the terrorists and managed to down the plan in an empty field in Pennsylvania, dying as heroes.
